Marisa Bardach Ramel graduated summa cum laude from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, where she majored in magazine journalism and minored in music industry. She later taught the magazine department’s first-ever digital course, Writing and Editing for Magazine Websites.

Ramel started her career when websites were becoming an essential part of a magazine’s brand, writing for teens as an associate editor at and then as a senior associate editor at Seventeen magazine’s website. She left to become an editor at Prevention magazine’s website, focusing on nutrition and recipe content. During this time, she co-founded The Résumé Hero, creating custom résumés and cover letters that delivered a high job-finding success rate.

Ramel has spent the last six years as the web content and strategy manager for bestselling personal finance author Beth Kobliner (Get a Financial Life, Simon & Schuster), directing digital efforts, including blogging, social media, PR, and marketing.

As a freelance writer, Ramel's work has been featured online on Glamour, Ladies’ Home Journal, The Huffington Post, xoJane, and more. She is currently working on a memoir, Sally’s Circle, and had an excerpt published in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks to My Mom (Simon & Schuster, 2015). She is also a judge for the Mirror Awards and the Webby Awards.

Ramel lives with her husband (also a Syracuse University alum!) and two children in Colorado.
