Paving the Way for Future Generations of Orange
November 21, 2015
“Syracuse University has given me so much,” says Danielle Matfess ’13, G’14 (third from left). “I want to make sure other students also have the chance to attend Syracuse. I couldn't have done it without the generous financial aid I received, so I gave to the general scholarship fund to help other students achieve their dreams.”
Matfess, an accountant with Ernst and Young in New York City, is just one of many alumni whose path to success began at Syracuse. “I can't imagine who I would be if I had attended a different school,” says Matfess. “Syracuse gave me so many opportunities to succeed, grow up, have adventures, and become the person I am today.”
A gift to The Fund for Syracuse can pave the way for future generations of Orange alumni like Danielle. Annual dollars provide through The Fund for Syracuse are flexible and immediately available, enabling the chancellor, deans, and other division heads to funnel those dollars wherever they are most urgently needed.
“Alumni giving makes up for what tuition doesn't cover—that can be as much as 30 percent of the true cost of an SU education,” says Tammy Schlafer, Executive Director of Annual Giving Programs. “Without private support, tuition would be higher, programs would go unfunded, and aid packages would shrink.”
As the year comes to a close, please consider including SU in your philanthropic plans for 2015. Any gift, no matter the size, can make a real impact. Make your gift today.
